Bibliomaniacs: Read-Review-Earn Hours!

It’s simple. Read a book, write a review, and earn 30 minutes of volunteer time.

You can review any book of your choosing. It can be fiction, non-fiction, biography, graphic novel, manga, even an audiobook– as long as it is considered Young Adult.

• 200-400 word count.
• Include a brief summary of the plot.
• Discuss various aspects of the material. Some topics you can think about (but not limited to):
  • What did you think of the characters?
  • How was the writing style?
  • If it was non-fiction title, how accurate was the information?
  • If it included images, how did it help with the progression of the story?
• Include whether or not you would recommend the material. It is completely acceptable to dislike the book, however you need to be able to explain why.

We recommend finding Professional reviews, such as Voya, School Library Journal, New York Times, Kirkus, etc. for the best review examples. Some of these are available through the library catalog. Just search for a title, click on “Full Display,” scroll down and click on, “Review”.

You must fill out the online form. Give us a week to review your work. If it passes our guidelines and disclaimers, we will post it on our website as well as our Goodreads account. You will then receive an email confirmation of your receipt of 30 minutes of volunteer work or added to your Volgistics.

• All reviews must be written by the person submitting it.
• A limit of TWO per day.
• If you do not wish to include your name, please make sure you select the appropriate box on our online form. Otherwise we will indicate your first name and grade.
• We will only post one review of each title. Make sure you check our Reviewed Books or Goodreads account before you write your review to ensure that the book you’ve chosen hasn’t already been reviewed.
• You cannot reserve to review titles ahead of time.
• All reviews will not be edited or altered. However, if necessary edits are required, we have the right to ask for re-submission.
• Plagiarized materials will be immediately denied and returned without merit.
• If you need hours ahead of a certain deadline we ask that you submit your reviews two weeks prior to the due date.
