Resident Library Cards

Sign up online or apply at the Circulation Desk. All online sign-ups must be completed in person with written proof of Ridgewood residency (e.g. utility bill, driver’s license, or residential lease.)

Children in grade eight and younger must have a parent’s or guardian’s signature.

Non-Resident Library Cards

People who live in a town without a Bergen County Cooperative Library System (BCCLS) library may buy a non-resident library card, which includes many resident privileges, including in-person borrowing from Ridgewood Public Library (RPL.) BCCLS policy prohibits holders of a non-resident library card from borrowing items from other BCCLS libraries or from accessing eBCCLS (including eBooks and eAudiobooks.)

Gold Card ($450 per year)

  • Attend all RPL programs.
  • Borrow items owned by RPL.
  • Access all NJ State Library databases (academic research, legal forms, and more.)
  • Use digital services offered for RPL cardholders only, such as Kanopy, Hoopla, and NoveList Plus.
  • Pay resident rates for computer classes and ESL services.
  • Check-out museum passes.

Silver Card ($275 per year)

  • Borrow items owned by RPL.
  • Access all NJ State Library databases (academic research, legal forms, and more.)
  • Use digital services offered for RPL cardholders only, such as Kanopy, Hoopla, and NoveList Plus.

Courtesy Library Cards

“Courtesy cards” allow certain non-residents to:

  • Borrow items owned by RPL.
  • Access online services provided by RPL and the NJ State Library.

Apply for a Courtesy Card

To apply for a courtesy card, you must:

  • Live outside of the BCCLS 77-town service area.
  • Be associated with the Village of Ridgewood in one of the following categories:
    • Village of Ridgewood employee.
    • Ridgewood Public Schools employee.
    • Business operator who owns or leases property in Ridgewood.
    • Student in the Ridgewood Public School District.

Documentation Required

  • Driver’s license or other government-issued ID showing home address.
  • Document verifying Ridgewood association (i.e. pay stub or lease.)
